Third Meeting of Human Gene Editing Study Committee

Serageldin joined the members of the Human Gene Editing Study committee in their third meeting held in Paris at the French National Academy of Medicine. The committee heard from other experts about the principles underlying human gene editing governance and policy, international governance perspectives, and potential applications for human germline editing. The day before the meeting, the committee also attended  a workshop on the current scientific activities and regulatory landscape for human gene editing in the European Union, organized by the Federation of European Academies of Medicine.

 

The Human Gene Editing Initiative was launched by The National Academy of Sciences (NAS) and the National Academy of Medicine's (NAM) to  provide researchers, clinicians, policymakers, and societies around the world with a comprehensive understanding of human gene editing to help inform decision making about this research and its application. Serageldin was selected to be a member of Human Gene Editing Study committee.
