Egyptian Intellectuals Meet to Discuss the Role of the Library of Alexandria in Promoting Dialogue and Tolerance

A three day event organized by the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services (CEOSS) and the Egyptian Association of Friends of the Library of Alexandria (EAFLA) to discuss the role of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina in promoting dialogue and tolerance in the years ahead. The seminar was attended by some 150 persons including Egypts leading scholars and many religious leaders from the Islamic and Christian faiths. Ismail Serageldin represented Mrs. Mubarak, under whose patronage the conference was held, and he also delivered a special lecture on the Library of Alexandria, old and new. Asked about the event, he echoed Mrs. Mubaraks public comment of how much such an event was welcomed, and he reiterated the invitation to CEOSS and the EAFLA to hold future seminars in the library in the future.
