The first Lady and chair of the Board of Trustees of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina met with the Egyptian members of the board of trustees to discuss the plans for the soft opening of the Library and the next steps in the librarys development. This was the first meeting to be actually held at the library itself. Progress was evident and the trustees were pleased with the progress to date. Beautiful gifts from Dr. Youssef Wally and the Governor of Alexandria were received (an edition of the Description de lEgypte) and Ismail Serageldin donated his personal copy of the Prisse dAvennes art books (3 large volumes).
